This little story was so full of hope and though it was short I think it will be one of my favorite Christmas stories for a long time. And it’s not only a good read for adults, but it is a wonderful story for the whole family.

How has writing helped you grow in your walk with God? Has it shown you more about Him?
Yes, I would say it has. Because I write Christian fiction, I write characters who sometimes have to wrestle with harder things and do that with a biblical worldview. And of course, if my character is doing so, then I have to as well because I’m writing it. So I don’t have a particular example, but yes.
Do you prefer writing a series or stand-alone, is it easier to write a series or a stand-alone, does one or the other make you more attached to characters?
I prefer stand-alones since I don’t really like reading series very much. However, I do love writing about the same town so that characters reappear in various books. But they’re still stand-alones, if that makes sense.
What is the most interesting thing you came across in researching your book?
Okay, so confession. I don’t do a lot of research. So I know I have researched a few random things here and there, but usually nothing intense. Once I did a little research on the USA mail which was fun though I don’t remember much of what I discovered and I never really ended up using it for a story.
What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
Growing up, my siblings and I would always open our stockings Christmas night instead of Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. That was always special and unique, and gave us something to look forward to at the end of the day. But did we peak throughout the day? Yes, probably, but that only adds to the fun.
What is your favorite flavor of coffee or tea when you are writing? And would you prefer to wrap up in a blanket or sit in front of a fireplace while reading?
Fun questions! I usually just end up with a cup of coffee and cream and sugar added, or lately my choice of tea has been English Breakfast or Chamomile, depending on my mood and how I’m feeling. I would sit in front of a fire if I could, however, since I can’t, I will definitely take a blanket.
What is your favorite Christmas treat to have while reading?
I love a good old-fashioned molasses ginger cookie.
What was your favorite thing about Christmas fiction?
I think there is something really comforting and cozy about Christmas fiction especially if there is a little bit of sweet romance going on and maybe a hint of mystery too.
Who or what inspired you to write this story?
I’m not really sure what inspired me to write A Family for Christmas. I think I just had an urge to write and publish a Christmas story and that’s what happened.
Who is your favorite author of Christmas fiction?
Oh, dear. I don’t know. I haven’t honestly read a ton of Christmas fiction yet, though I want to read more. Chautona Havig definitely has some good ones and I need to read more of hers.
