First post on the new blog, whaaa?! Yep! And this post? Well, it's for the writers out there! (Okay, and the readers, so you, I mean if you don't read or write thanks for stopping by my blog, I guess? Idk what you're doing unless you're a relative, but I hope you find something you enjoy from my blog!)
You know why it's for the writers? Because I am co-hosting an anthology with a dear friend, M.L. Milligan! She's the best you, guys! And she and I kinda ended up brainstorming an idea I had which has turned into this contest.
What is the contest, you may be wondering... Well, it is an anthology Honoring the Birth of the Savior in 7 short stories total. And you may be wondering who this anthology is by, well, you if you enter you have a shot at your story being in the anthology! From September 24th to October 29th the anthology entries will be open.
Now, you may want to know more about what you can enter, right?
Well, first off here are the official rules.
Submissions close October 29th.
Only five stories will be selected October 30th.
Each story must be between 3,000 to 5,000 words (unless it is 100% necessary to the story!)
You can submit more than one story... if you have time, but this is crazy short notice to begin with so, yeah, lol. Only one story per author will be chosen for the anthology.
Any era or genre - excluding magical fantasy, horror or anything that just doesn't honor God, otherwise have at it! - is accepted.
We're looking for good, wholesome Christian stories that are for all ages or at the most 13/16 up - so no icky relationships, or extreme violence. Your story must be God-honoring and portray a plotline that reflects God's love and honors Him!
You must use at least one prompt in your story.
Please, no Santa... Just too many different thoughts/beliefs on this so, yeah, no.
When you're ready to submit, just follow the link below!
Here are some quick answers about compensation, editing, and rights!
Compensation for authors will come at a later date. At first it will cover the cost of launching, a giveaway at the launch, formatting, the cover cost (already designed, however it needs a few edits, mainly the book blurb and final authors names.) After the costs of publishing are covered there will be a poll to choose if the authors receive compensation monthly, quarterly, or whenever is decided or if the royalties will go towards sharing about the anthology through ads, giveaways, and such.
We will provide editing if that's what the author wants however if they prefer to have someone else edit, they can do that.
All rights are retained by the authors.
So, go ahead and pick your prompt, write your story, and submit your entry!
Oh, right, you need the prompts! Well, I loved picking these with Mac, and most of these were from her... Aren't they just lovely?
Now, that's all for the anthology... Do you know what else is coming up?
If you guessed Five Fall Favorites, you would be right!
Hosted by the lovely Kate (Willis) Hoppman over at Once Upon An Ordinary.
I am so excited, and really just can't wait to participate in the party again this year! It's been so much fun in the past and I've been eager to get back into blogging with the party in October.
Have you been "to" Five Fall Favorites before? If you haven't you don't know what you're missing, and I suggest you "swing by" at least once to join in on the fun!
And for a few last notes... I am finally back in the saddle! I'm reading, reviewing, and am going to hopefully start sharing more blog posts so you'll see me around!
Due to the postponement of Oh, The Lamented's publishing date I decided that I will be sharing the covers of the whole series! All at once. But I'm not sure as to the when... So, when do you want to see the covers?
When do you want to see the covers?
Right away!
November 11th (original publishing date for Oh, The Lamented
Next year...? It's not sometinhg that really interests me.
Last but not least, what was your favorite thing about my blogging in the past? Anything you'd like to see in the future? What's your biggest want when following a blog?
And that's all for today!
See ya later, booknerds!
